Description
This original watercolor depicts a gathered spray of forget-me-nots, their small blue blooms branching outward along slender stems. The flowers are numerous and lightly spaced, each one present without emphasis or hierarchy.
Forget-me-nots are closely associated with remembrance, but they are also flowers that grow in clusters, returning year after year in familiar places. In this piece, the many blooms reflect memory as it exists in real life. Not preserved or arranged, but held much as it was. Slightly uneven. Softly repeated.
This painting was made with an awareness of remembering without revising. Of allowing moments, people, and versions of ourselves to remain as they were, without asking them to become something else.
Painted on Arches watercolor paper, this work is part of a symbolic floral collection rooted in personal lived experience and shared human emotion.
Symbolism
Forget-me-nots symbolize remembrance, continuity, and fidelity to what has been lived. Their clustered growth suggests memory formed through accumulation rather than intensity. Here, the spray represents what is carried forward without alteration.
